This deep crimson elephant label from the Ichinichi archive is one of the archive's most quietly elegant pieces. Where the full-size version commands the chest, here the label sits centered and intimate , the engraved elephant in its striped oval, portrait medallion seals flanking left and right, the diagonal text banner crossing the lower corner exactly as it appeared on the original matchbox distributed across British Burma in the years before the world changed.
The crimson-on-crimson relationship between label and shirt on the pink colorway is a full fashion moment unplanned by the original makers, entirely intentional now. On black it glows. On natural it reads like a discovered vintage textile patch. On white it's clean and sharp against the aged paper tones of the label itself.

Every design in the Ichinichi Collection is sourced from a personal archive of original Japanese matchbox labels spanning 1880 to 1940. The Burma export series documents one of the most significant chapters in Japanese commercial printing history , labels produced for the British colonial market across Southeast Asia, printed with extraordinary craft, and virtually impossible to find today.
